Citizen’s march upmarket with high quality mechanical timepieces is continuing with two new core collection models in its Series 8 family of affordable luxury sports watches, plus a special limited edition.
The new 890 Mechanical models have magnetic resistant movements and are safe in water up to 200 meters thanks to their sophisticated three-piece case construction.
They hit the sweet spot for people who want a stylish, sporty, everyday watch that is perfect partner for an active lifestyle.
For the core collection, Citizen has introduced two steel models with octagonal bezels and integrated steel bracelets. They come with a choice of a warm gold-coloured plating for a piece with a brown dial or a cooler grey treatment twinned with a deep blue dial.
Both have the same bold checkered pattern, inspired by the Tokyo skyline at night that was first seen on the dials of Citizen’s 2023 Series 8 watches. Their hands and hour markers are filled with white lume.
The 42.6mm x 11.7mm watches have exhibition case backs exposing the Cal.9051 automatic movement, which is accurate to -10/+20 seconds per day and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
Series 8 watches have an internal bidirectional 60 minute bezel, controlled by a pusher at 2 o’clock, which has its first 15 minutes highlighted as a nod to the countdown timers used in yacht racing.
The two core collection models are priced at £1,095 for the blue and grey piece or £1,195 for the gold and brown version.
There is also a special edition, limited in production to 1,700 pieces, that has the same steel-on-steel case and integrated bracelet as the blue-dialled edition, but this time with a copper-pink dial with a geometric pattern inspired by clouds of cherry blossoms.
They go on sale for £1,095.
